btCheck4UnwantedApps

  • Performance Feature
  • The application btCheck4UnwantedApps checks the PC system for unwanted, predefined applications and deletes the folders in which these unwanted applications are located. The idea and the program came about because the internal IT of my AG was not able to get the McAfee Endpoint Encryption under control. The encryption was destroyed several times a year and each time it took about 2 days to decrypt the hard drive. During this time the PC system could not be used.

In the control file "btCheck4UnwantedApps.ini - Sample" there are examples that illustrate the functionality quite simply.

The important features are explained as follows:

    • AppsFolder2Check - This group defines the folder name that is to be deleted.
    • The DeleteEntireFolder key controls whether the folder name and its content should be completely deleted (TRUE) or only renamed (FALSE). After the initial installation, the folders are only renamed by default.
    • AppsService2Check - The services that are to be monitored are listed here. If these are stopped (this has to be done by hand) everything is fine. If these are again in the status: "In progress”, this is displayed visually in the task bar. Otherwise nothing happens here.
